Former BJP chief Babul Supriyo formally resigned as an MP on Tuesday, a month after he give up the celebration to affix the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC. Supriyo thanked the BJP management for the boldness they’d proven in him.
“My coronary heart is heavy as I had started my political profession with the BJP. I thank the PM, celebration chief, and Amit Shah. They confirmed confidence in me. I had left politics wholeheartedly. I believed that if I’m not part of the celebration, I mustn’t hold any seat for myself,” he mentioned after assembly Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
The event comes after the two-term MP from West Bengal’s Asansol had on September 20 — two days after becoming a member of the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress celebration — written to Birla, looking for a “temporary” appointment with him to formally resign as a member of the Home.
The singer-turned-politician has repeatedly pressured that he didn’t wish to proceed as an MP since he was now not a member of the celebration for which he gained the seat.
