Uddhav Thackeray right this moment demanded Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s recall, describing him as a “parcel despatched through Amazon to Maharashtra” in an escalating row over feedback on Shivaji. The previous Chief Minister threatened a protest if Mr Koshyari was not eliminated.
“This governor who’s a parcel despatched through Amazon to Maharashtra by central authorities, if they do not take him again inside two to 5 days, a statewide protest or bandh shall be organized,” Mr Thackeray informed reporters.
Governor Koshyari’s feedback on Maratha icon Chhatrapati Shivaji have triggered anger throughout the political spectrum, with the ruling Eknath Shinde Sena and its ally BJP, too, talking up.
The Governor had made the feedback at a perform to honour Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
“‘Earlier, while you had been requested who your icon is, the solutions can be Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi. In Maharashtra, you needn’t look elsewhere (as) there are such a lot of icons right here. Whereas Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is an icon of the olden days, now there are BR Ambedkar and Nitin Gadkari,” Mr Koshyari had mentioned final Saturday.
